Tobacco e-juice vs. smoking tobacco
Most transitioning smokers enter vaping with an anticipation of a 1:1 experience to smoking their favorite cigarettes, but the truth is that no vape juice tastes like burning tobacco leaves, i.e. smoking tobacco. Some flavorings may offer your e-juice an “ashtray” taste, and certain cigar or pipe e-juices may fool your mind by approximating the flavorings of the wrappers or the fruity pipe additives. But a good tobacco e-juice aims at giving an authentic and realistic take on the tobacco leaf.
While this may seem like a disadvantage at first, it really isn’t. Vaping replaces the stench of smoke and ash with an endless variety of flavors and combinations. Tobacco with cookies may not sound that good, but that’s until you try it! And that’s not only noticeable by your taste buds; by removing combustion, tobacco vapes do not leave a lingering smell on your breath, your clothes, and your living room. N.E.T.s (or NETs as they are commonly referred to) are what their name suggests: e-juices made with natural tobacco extracts. If you are after a pure tobacco flavor, that’s as close to the real thing as it gets. NETs are not that popular with beginners due to their limited availability and the fact that they gunk up coils so quickly that they are better suited for rebuildable atomizers. Is there a best way to vape tobacco e-liquid?
Short answer: no, there isn’t. You can vape tobacco juice any way you like. But there are some things to consider.
Most people prefer to vape tobacco e-liquid the way they used to smoke tobacco. With some exceptions, tobacco is generally smoked in a two-step method; inhale in the mouth, and then breathe the vapor into the lungs. In vaping terms, this is called a mouth-to-lung inhale (MTL). Due to the smaller amount of vapor inhaled this way, MTL vaping allows for higher nicotine strength juices, and it is usually done through MTL vape tanks or small pod devices. In fact, these are some of the best vapes to quit smoking.
But many people, and especially experienced vapers, like to vape tobaccos with a direct-to-lung inhalation (DL). As the name suggests, vapor is inhaled directly to the lungs and then quickly exhaled. This method is better suited to sub ohm tanks, or even pod devices with a more open airflow. As a rule of thumb, sub ohm vaping requires lower nicotine juices due to the larger amount of vapor inhaled.
