Product intro and specs
The third generation of ARGUS pod vapes were some of the best (and most underrated) devices of 2025. Classy, pocketable, reliable, and supported by iCOSM Code 2.0 technology, they set a high bar. After a year of waiting, the new VOOPOO ARGUS G4 and G4 Mini have finally been announced. And, once again, the new pods are packed with some serious innovation. If, like me, you tend to geek out over vape tech, these kits will be right up your alley.
Previous ARGUS pods remain compatible, but the G4 series introduces VOOPOO’s new multi-ohm cartridges, which can switch among three resistances. The runtime is another big upgrade. With a whopping 1650 mAh battery, these devices can deliver over 10 mL per charge!
Admittedly, while I was excited about the G4 devices, I was also apprehensive about the new pods. Given the differing airflow and wicking requirements for RDL and MTL, it seemed unlikely that a single pod could excel at both. Did VOOPOO succeed, or is this just another one of vaping’s failed innovations? Let’s find out.

Build quality and design
As with previous versions, both the ARGUS G4 and G4 Mini are well-machined, comfortable to hold, and have mature, approachable designs. VOOPOO may have followed the typical pod vape formula here, but they didn’t cut any corners. There’s not much to complain about, other than the tension of the airflow sliders. While usually fine, accidental adjustments are possible if you put the device in your pocket.
Looking specifically at the G4, it’s a significant overhaul of 2025’s ARGUS G3. Aside from the dimensions (it’s a bit wider and thicker), the most obvious difference is the screen. VOOPOO replaced the ornate bezel with a smoked panel that sits flush with the device. I don’t see this as an upgrade. First, the screen is deceptively small (even smaller than the G3), occupying roughly 30-35% of the panel space. Also, the smoked panel dulls the screen colors and attracts fingerprints.
It’s also worth noting that there are two slightly different styles of the G4. One has a seamless body with subtle crosshatching, and the other features front and back panels. I prefer the latter, as the chassis cutouts add depth to the overall design.
The G4 Mini is available only in a panel-free version, but the minimalist style works well since it lacks a screen. Like most “mini” versions, its design is understated, marked only by a four-stage battery indicator. Sadly, it’s not as petite as the G3 Mini, but that’s expected with a bigger battery.
Getting started
Like the G3, VOOPOO went the extra mile to make the ARGUS G4 easy to learn. They integrated a quick-start guide into both the packaging and the device itself. Here’s a basic overview:
- Long-press to show tips (quick-start guide)
- One click to wake the screen
- Two clicks to change power mode (resistance)
- Three clicks to enter wattage adjustment mode
- Five clicks to open the menu (long-press to select an option in the menu)
- Flip the pod to switch from 0.7 to 1.0 ohms (0.4-ohm option is available with either)
That may be simple enough, but the new multi-ohm pods add more complexity. They’re labeled “0.7” on one side, and “1.0” on the other. You can switch by flipping the pod. Regardless of the orientation, you can enable the 0.4-ohm option by clicking the button twice. In short, one side offers 0.4 and 0.7 ohms, while the other offers 0.4 and 1.0 ohms. Note that all ARGUS pods are cross-compatible, so the multi-ohm pods will work with previous devices.
The menu items are straightforward: power off, theme, puff clear, and lock. But there are a couple of things to note. First, while there are three themes, only two have animations. Second, the lock function disables wattage adjustments, resistance switching, and animations.
Moving on to the G4 Mini. Because it lacks a button or screen, it’s much easier to operate. Like its big brother, the resistance can be adjusted from 0.7 to 1.0 ohms by flipping the pod (no 0.4-ohm option; see note below). The LED panel on the front of the device indicates both the resistance (0.7 = white; 1.0 = green) and the battery level.
Let’s wrap up this section with commonalities. You can fine-tune the airflow (MTL to RDL) of either device using the back-mounted airflow slider. To fill the pods, lift the side rubber tab. Unfortunately, these pods are as tedious to fill as previous versions. They have two separate chambers, so you must fill slowly and let air bubbles shift and escape.
Performance
The G3 series pods ranked among my 2025 favorites for their outstanding flavor and longevity. I even bought more after completing the review. So, despite being innovative, the new multi-ohm pods had a lot to live up to in terms of performance. I tested one pod in MTL mode (0.7 and 1.0 ohms) and the other in RDL (0.4 ohms). Here are my impressions after a few weeks.
MTL: No disappointments here. The performance was fantastic with both the 0.7 and 1.0-ohm options. I used one of my favorite nic salts, and it tasted as good as ever. The flavor is accurate and well-rounded, backed by the perfect amount of warmth. I won’t say it’s superior to the G3 pods, but it’s certainly on the same level. I’ve now put over 40 mL through this pod, and it’s still performing well. I did notice a slight drop in flavor around 25 mL, but the dark, sweet e-liquid I was using may have been the culprit.
RDL: In 0.4-ohm mode (70VG e-liquid), my impressions closely matched the G3 pods. There’s nothing to fault here: the flavor is strong, and wicking is efficient. It’s not the top RDL option on the market, but it belongs in the upper tier. Plus, its ability to double as an MTL pod is a major advantage. As for longevity, this pod has surpassed 30 mL, and it’s still performing like new.
Battery life and charging
Both the ARGUS G4 and G4 Mini feature substantial 1650 mAh batteries, which is impressive for pod vapes of this size. Although their capacities match, their charge rates differ, so I’ll discuss each separately.
The G4 is the most capable, offering a 2-amp charge rate (measured at 1.7–1.85 amps). It recharges in about 51 minutes, which is faster than I anticipated. My only gripe is that the display vanishes after a few seconds, so you must press the button to check the charge status.
The G4 Mini has a slight downgrade with a 1.5-amp charge rate, so it takes a bit longer. I timed it at 82 minutes, averaging 1 amp. But, like most devices, it will trickle in some extra mAh if left plugged in longer.
Both batteries tested at 1430-1470 mAh, which is more than acceptable in the current market. But what’s truly remarkable is the runtime. Depending on the power and resistance settings, I can get 9-10.5 mL of e-liquid per charge! Somehow, these devices rival the XROS Pro 2 (2000 mAh) in this respect despite their smaller batteries.

Verdict
I frequently felt a sense of déjà vu while writing this review. My take on the ARGUS G4 devices mirrors those of the third generation: bigger battery, greater capacity, and innovative pods. And that’s exactly what I wanted. VOOPOO isn’t just making mindless cosmetic changes to each generation; they’re making meaningful improvements. No flash or gimmicks, just steady fine-tuning in pursuit of perfection.
Of course, they haven’t achieved perfection just yet. The new pods are still annoying to fill because of the dual chambers. Also, the G4’s screen feels like a step back. It’s smaller and less vivid than the G3, and the smoked panel attracts fingerprints. Lastly, I wish the status stayed visible during charging.
Thankfully, none of these drawbacks is a deal-breaker. Not even close! The upgraded battery provides, on average, the most runtime I’ve experienced from a compact pod vape. Also, the multi-ohm pods are not only functional but perform beautifully. One pod serving both RDL and MTL is a fascinating achievement. The performance may not be revolutionary (it matches the G3), but the ARGUS G4 and G4 Mini can still rival some of the best.
