NEXA Ultra II

The NEXA ULTRA 50k II builds on the original design with a smaller body and the updated Juicy Lock system—first introduced with the PIX 35k—to prevent leaks and keep flavor consistent. It holds 20 mL of e-liquid, powered by a 900 mAh rechargeable battery with dual mesh coils and two power modes. Now with a stealth mode for discreet vaping, and available in 15 flavors, with more to follow.

Product intro and specs

The NEXA ULTRA II is the follow-up to the ULTRA 50000, a device I recommended back in November of 2024. Like the original ULTRA (and the NEXA PIX), the ULTRA II is a two-part disposable vape, with a prefilled pod (16 mL) manually attached to the battery (which houses an additional 4 mL of liquid).

The ULTRA II keeps what was good about the original and trims its size, tightens some design details, and makes it, literally, a snap to put together. In that respect, the ULTRA 50k II is more like the NEXA PIX 35k.

With the PIX and now with the NEXA ULTRA II, the awkward assembly is gone. The new assembly is called the Juicy Lock system, which is a new way of packaging the two-part design that keeps the liquid sealed until the first draw. It’s clean and super user-friendly. Putting the two parts together requires you to just squeeze the device.

Aside from that, it’s basically the same deal as the first ULTRA: a 20 mL transparent tank, two power modes (50k/30k), but now with a 900 mAh quick-charge USB-C battery. The dual-mesh coil and curved display return, along with a new option to switch between light and dark modes for the LED effects, something I appreciate. There are still 15 flavors to choose from, with more likely to come.

I’m already a fan of the original so I’m expecting good things with the NEXA ULTRA II. Let’s see.

Price: $19.99 (at Vape Sourcing)

Flavors: Black Cherry, Blueberry Watermelon, Strawberry Ice, Strawberry Mango, Strawberry Colada, Strawberry Banana, Sour Apple Ice, Miami Mint, Lemon Frozen, Blue Razz Ice, BP, Fcuking FAB, Georgia Peach Ice, White Gummy, Watermelon Ice

Size, look, and feel

The ULTRA II feels smaller in hand, though not dramatically so. Maybe that’s because it’s been almost a year since I last used the original ULTRA. That said, there is a difference. According to the NEXA site, it is about 9.7% shorter than the original. The new tank doesn’t have the graduation marks that are on the original.  As I said before, those markings seemed helpful but weren’t necessary. Luckily, the transparent crystal tank remains.

The LED animation is still visually interesting, with its flickering circuitry-like graphics. If you don’t care for the lights, a three-second press turns them off with the new light/dark mode. With those lights off, the screen will still display the battery percentage, but it can easily be concealed in the palm.

The entire body is glossy black yet somehow resists fingerprints. I’ve carried other glossy disposables that looked grimy within a day—this one still seems basically ready for the camera even after holding it.

The mouthpiece shares the same form factor as before but now uses the bite-friendly material first seen on the PIX. Looking back, the original's hard plastic tip feels outdated by comparison. Between the new mouthpiece and the slightly lighter weight, you can even go hands-free for a moment.

Getting started

If you remember the ULTRA’s slightly confusing two-part assembly, the ULTRA II simplifies it greatly. Setup is literally a snap. Remove the cardboard spacer, grip the two halves, and press until you feel and hear that click. Once connected, they’re not coming apart. It’s a fun and satisfying way to connect the two parts, which is the same as the NEXA PIX.

After snapping it together, I still let mine sit for a minute, though it’s ready to go immediately. I learned with earlier NEXA devices that you can take a puff right away without risking a dry hit, but I still prefer to wait briefly.

It’s key to understand how it works: there’s cotton already wicked up inside the device, even before you attach the two sections. There’s 4 mL inside the device, and the tank holds 16 mL. Therefore, when you see the tank is empty, there will still be (presumably) 4 mL inside the device. Just something to think about before you toss it. The best thing to go by is taste. If the flavor drops off, it’s done.

The controls are still the same: the airflow slider at the bottom, the mode button under the screen. Tap to switch between NORM and TURBO; hold for three seconds to toggle the stealth mode on, which kills the light show (though you can still see the battery percentage light up).

How does it hit?

The ULTRA II’s airflow feels like a perfect marriage of the PIX and the first ULTRA. It can get as tight as the PIX for a proper MTL or open up as much as the ULTRA for a comfortable restricted lung hit. The draw remains smooth and consistent across the range.

In TURBO, the vapor is noticeably warmer with a stronger flavor and a fuller hit. In NORM, the hit is more subdued with a slightly cooler, less intense draw. In both modes, coil activation is instant, and there’s no popping, spitting, or leaking. The overall experience is as smooth as the PIX, just a tiny bit more versatile.

NEXA ULTRA II best flavors

I like NEXA flavors, and the ones I was sent were fine, but they didn’t exactly wow me. That said, they’re as good as most good flavors in disposables. The key difference is that the NEXA performs more reliably than others---so who gets the nod? For me, it’s hard to recommend over a NEXA ULTRA II.  If you like strawberry ice, you should get it out of a device you can rely on. As an aside, there may be something to this “Juicy Lock” system because every hit tastes just like the first.

These are the three flavors I sampled.

Black Cherry: Aromatic with a fairly accurate taste of black cherry.  Moderately sweet.

Blueberry Watermelon: Sweet and refreshing, blueberry upfront with watermelon adding more brightness to the slight tartness of the blueberry. Very good.

Strawberry Ice: A blend of natural and candy flavors makes this strawberry taste the way you want strawberry to taste. Medium iciness.

How long does it last?

Using the ULTRA II in TURBO mode, I get at least a full day of steady vaping per charge. The 900 mAh battery doesn’t feel dramatically stronger than the ULTRA’s 800 mAh, but that’s fine—it’s still plenty for me. And thanks to the ultra-fast (partial) charge, there’s never a reason to stress. A short plug-in gives you hours of runtime.

With just a few minutes on the charger, you can get a couple of hundred hits. I’m not exaggerating! And the pass-thru charging still activates almost instantly—even from battery reading at zero. Unfortunately, a full charge takes over an hour. The thing is, with such a quick partial charge, I rarely charge mine fully before the liquid is all gone.

As for the liquid, there seems to be a legit 20 mL on board, considering you can see the contents. And remember, there’s also 4 mL of “storage cotton” inside that will still hold liquid even after the tank appears empty. At least for a little while, you can still vape on an empty-looking tank as you would vape on a full tank. But just don’t forget that you’re down to 4 mL. It won’t last that long.

Verdict

The NEXA ULTRA II feels like the PIX and ULTRA merged into one device, which is fine by me! The dual-mesh coil, magical quick-charge, and consistent flavor delivery are still there, just now with a simple assembly and a more compact and comfortable body. Frankly, there’s nothing I would change about the device itself.

NEXA kept what was good and improved what could’ve been better. I’m happy that they didn’t change too much. For vapers looking for a really good device to vape their favorite flavor, the NEXA ULTRA II should be on your list. It’s one of the best devices out there with some features unique to itself.  My one criticism would be that the flavors aren’t as memorable as the device, but the NEXA flavor is likely just as good as the one you’re vaping. Take that for what it’s worth.

More recommended than the original.
